I am having 10 people for Christmas dinner, and I’m having a problem coming up with some side dishes. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
What are some good side dishes to have with a baked ham for Christmas dinner?

might have say, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots, in a cheese sauce, cheesy oven cooked hashbrowns.., a nice dinner salad, crusty rolls w/ butter , biscuits, etc and so forth…
oh and a NICE relish tray never hurt anyone! some nice dips..oh and a good cheese ball and crackers is always a welcome addition.
why does everyone always have to drown their sweet taters or yams? you know what ? they are called sweet potato’s for a reason..take them, poke holes in em all over, put em in the microwave for 10 minutes on high, then take them and grill them on your grill till dark brown, serve them with butter and if need be sprinkled cinnamon….that is GOOD EATINS!! i cannot stand candied sweet taters or yams..just EWWW!! *shivering in disgust*

I’d think either mashed potatoes w/ gravy, green bean casserole, or you can go more the "picnic" type route and have baked beans and potato salad or macaroni salad

First when my mom baked the ham, she poured pineapple juice over the ham, brushed on brown sugar, layered pineapple rings with mar. cherry in center of ea. ring. (held on by a toothpick)
My mom’s gone now, so I prepare it the same way for baking.
We always had our fav. potatoe salad (all families have their own version)
Baked beans
Baked (wrapped in foil) sweet potatoes
Kentucky Wonder Green Beans ( if you want a short cut, use a large can of Italian grn. beans add a small cut up irish potatoe, 1/8 tsp onion powder, 1/8 tsp garlic powder, salt to tastel and cook on hi or med for at least 40 minutes.
Sweet corn on the cob
A really tasty fruit salad….or a pecan pie
I entertain a lot and have found out that plenty of the most simple dishes are usually appreciated by all, even good ol mac and cheese!
I hope this helps out at least a little….Happy Holidays

You are only asking about good side dishes and not how to make them right? Because I am having baked ham for Christmas as well.
I don’t really have a problem with the side dishes as my family is quite vocal. Everybody wants what they want. I have a lot of side dishes that I will be serving as follows:
Cole slaw
Baked beans with pork & molasses
Corn bread w bacon on top
Mashed potatoes with lots of thick gravy
Wild rice with mushrooms, lots of mushrooms
Green beans, green peas & carrots
Candied sweet potatoes
I make a big dish of roasted vegetables, potatoes, again, turnips, carrots, green bell peppers, onions, mushrooms & sometimes cabbage that I’ve pre-cooked (remember I made cole slaw but it could be a really big cabbage and they like it roasted too).
Always lots of butter & sour cream & biscuits on the table.
Wouldn’t consider offering you new recipes to be trying out at this time of year. Your quite busy enough. Stick with the tried and true perhaps a little switch up here are there, can’t hurt.

I agree with some of the others: green bean casserole, Cole slaw, and get some dinner rolls. Here’s a recipe for Slow Cooker Sweet Potato Casserole:
2 (29 ounce) cans sweet potatoes, drained and mashed
1/3 cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon orange juice
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup chopped pecans
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons butter, melted
Cooking instructions
Lightly grease a slow cooker.
In a large bowl, blend sweet potatoes, 1/3 cup butter, white sugar and 2 tablespoons brown sugar. Beat in orange juice, eggs and milk. Transfer this mixture to the prepared casserole dish.
In a small bowl, combine pecans, 1/3 cup brown sugar, flour and 2 tablespoons butter. Spread the mixture over the sweet potatoes. Cover the slow cooker and cook on High for 3 to 4 hours.
If you aren’t fond of pecans, put marshmallows on top of sweet potatoes when they are almost ready to be served and put under broiler just a few seconds until the marshmellows turn lightly golden.
Merry Christmas!!!

Cheesy Potatoes are the best thing I can think of. Also corn with onions and red peppers for a vegetable. Or even corn casserole.
