Does anyone have a cute recipe for a christmas party treat. Last year I made mice cookies. I would like to make something this year that is "eye-catching" and cute. Any ideas.

Get a recipe for vanilla rolled cookies
Cut 8 star shapes cookies in graduated sizes
starting with the largest star, frost them as if decorating a christmas tree.
stack them on top of each other with largest on bottom to smallest on top.
You then have a decorated cookie christmas tree, for kids to enjoy
It is fun with ginger bread too!!!
This recipie comes from a very old cookbook that my mother used over 50 years ago;
To Prepare above use double the recipe
Flour, 3 1/2 cups
Baking powder, 1 teaspoon,
Salt, 1/2 teaspoon,
Shortening or Butter, 1 cup,
Sugar, 1 1/2 cups,
Eggs, well beated, 2
Vanilla, 1 1/2 teaspoons
Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Cream shortening, add sugar gradually and continue to beat. Add eggs and blend thoroughly, add vanilla. Combine the dry ingredients and the creamed mixture. Mix all thoroughly. Chill for a hour or so
Roll as thin as possible on a lightly floured board. Cut with cookie cutter or in prefered shapes.
Sprinkle with sugar, nuts, or coconut
Bake in a hot oven. 400 degrees F.
6-10 minutes.

Berlinerkranzer (Berlin Wreaths)
1 ½ cups butter shortening (like buttery Crisco)
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons grated orange rind
2 eggs
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 egg white
2 tablespoons sugar
Red candied cherries
Green citron
Mix shortening, 1 cup sugar, rind, and eggs thoroughly. Stir in flour. Chill dough. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Break off small pieces of dough, about 6” long and ¼” thick. (If rich dough splits apart or seems crumbly, let it warm or work in a few drops of liquid until the dough sticks together.) Form each piece into a circle, bringing one end over and through in a single knot. Leave ½” end on each side. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Beat egg white until frothy; gradually beat in 2 teaspoons of sugar; brush tops with this meringue. Press bits of red candied cherries on center of knot for holiday berries. Add little jagged leaves cut out of green citron. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until set but not brown. Makes about 6 dozen 2” cookies.

Try baking cake mix in the small flat bottom ice cream cones. You can color the icing red or green and then sprinkle them with Christmas sprinkles. Bake them in a muffin tin..be careful not to let them fall over when you put them in the oven. Trust me….they turn out soooo cute.
