Sugar cookies can last 1 1/2 to 2 weeks… chocolate chip 1 to 1 1/2, and so usually about a week and a half before is safe… but also, if you want to make them in advance… put them in containers and freeze them. Then, when your ready for them, take them out and put them in the microwave for a few seconds… they’ll taste fresh baked! =D

I have already made some – but they have been eaten already.
If you want them for Christmas day make them 2 or 3 days ahead

I was making them all last week for my little Christmas party on Dec. 10th. I put them in an airtight container and set them in the fridge. Took them out about a half hour before my guests got to my house and they were still fresh. Hope I helped.

i say cook them 2 day before you are going to give them away, because no one like old cookies…

We’ve already started making them in my family. Here’s a tip on what we do so that we have cookies all season.
Buy some cute plastic serving trays or even some holiday paper plates. You can add a paper doilly if you really want to get fancy. Arrange your cookies on the tray or plate however you wish – maybe a plate of all one kind of cookie and another with a variety of cookies. Wrap them well and put them in the freezer. When company comes take one or two plates out and let them sit a minute or two before serving.

You can go ahead and make them and freeze them (just don’t put icing on them yet), or you could just make the dough and freeze it. If you don’t have room in the freezer, I would wait a while before making them. Even if you put them in an air tight container, they will still get stale before Christmas.
